Wooden implements used in the production and preparation of yarn, frame looms, traditionally produced and dyed cotton thread, and handwoven textiles, comprise the Abel-Iloko Exhibition. Various patterns done through different weaving design techniques are shown through the textiles on exhibit.
On exhibition in this gallery are ethnographic as well as a number of botanical objects that are associated with the production, trade and consumption of basi, the Iloko traditional wine made of sugarcane juice and native growing herbal fermenting agents.
The 14 oil paintings depicting scenes of the Iloko peasants’ Basi Revolt of 1807 are housed in this gallery at the South Wing of the Old Carcel Museum.
Presently installed at the North Wing gallery for changing exhibitions is “Pagkaing Filipino: Images of Regional Cuisine Dishes, Drinks, and Delicacies and their Stories”. Comprising 65 photographs taken across the archipelago by multi-awarded photographer Neal M. Oshima.
The gallery housing memorabilia of the Sixth President of the Republic, Elpidio Quirino (EQ), is located on the second floor of the Old Carcel Museum, the building where he was born on November 16, 1890 while his father served as jail warden.
